Chronological Summary of the Facts in Honduras
In order for people to understand why there is a new
government in the country, the Liberal Party of
Honduras emitted a Cronolical Report of the Facts
that led to the Constitutional transition of
government on Sunday June 28th.
When President Zelaya assumed power he swore: “I
promise to be faithful to the Republic and to obey
and make others obey the Constitution and the laws.”
(Art. 322 of Honduran Constitution)
The President of Honduras in Council of Ministers
(Cabinet Council) emitted the Executive Decree
PCM-005-2009, through which he called upon a
consultation to the people with the ultimate goal of
summoning a National Constituent Assembly to emit a
new Constitution, which would allow the elimination
of the “Articulos Petreos”, an act that is
considered unconstitutional and is considered as a
crime of Treason to the Country.
There were all kinds of reactions against this act:
Colegio de Abogados de Honduras - Honduran
Association of Attorneys
Judicial Power
Attorney General
National Commissioner of Human Rights
Supreme Electoral Tribunal
National Anticorruption Commission
Political Parties
Catholic Church
Evangelical and Protestant Churches
National Association of Industries
Civil Society
The Attorney General began a judicial action that
ended with a decree prohibiting the consultation.
The Executive Decree PCM-005-2009 was never
published, making it impossible legally dispute it,
an improper behaviour of the Executive Power.
The Attorney General publicly warned that the
President’s behaviour and that of his advisors was
illegal.
The President of Honduras, in Council of Ministers,
emitted the Executive Decree PCM-019-2009, through
which he annulled the Executive Decree that called
upon a consultation related to the summon of a
National Constituent Assembly to emit a new
Constitution, and replaced it with a new Executive
Decree which ordered a national poll that would take
place on Sunday, June 28 of 2009, in which the
following question would be asked: Are you in favor
with the addition of a fourth voting box in the
general elections of 2009, in which the people will
decide on the summon of a National Constituent
Assembly?
The new Executive Decree number PCM-019-2009, dated
may 26, 2009, was not published until June 25th of
2009, with the manifested goal that the same would
not be judicially challenged.
The Supreme Electoral Tribunal and the General
Attorney of State began legal actions to confiscate
the poll’s material and named the Air Force Chief as
depositary of the confiscated items.
The President and a mob of his followers broke the
order of legality, rejected the resolution by the
Judicial Power, assaulted the Air Force facilities
in Tegucigalpa, where the confiscated material was
being kept, misused his authority as President of
Honduras, publicly expressed that he would not
respect the rulings of the Judicial Power, and put
forward that the Legislative Power was not
representative of the People, but himself, who had
been elected president of Honduras.
The Armed Forces of Honduras re established the
order and legality.
The National Congress followed the constitutional
process established in the Article 242, regarding
the succession of the President in case of a
definite absence.

Ousted Honduran leader's return thwarted
From
www.cbc.ca/world/story/2009/07/05/zelaya-honduras.html
Last Updated: Sunday, July 5, 2009 | 9:33 PM ET
The Honduran military thwarted an attempt by ousted
president Manuel Zelaya to land at the main airport
serving Tegucigalpa on Sunday by blocking the runway
with vehicles carrying soldiers.
Zelaya's plane landed in Nicaragua and he vowed to
try again on Monday or Tuesday even though the
Honduran interim government vowed to prevent his
return.
His next destination would be El Salvador where the
leaders of Argentina, Paraguay and Ecuador and the
secretary-general of the Organization of American
States flew from Washington and were awaiting his
arrival.
Earlier, when the plane was minutes from landing in
Honduras, Zelaya appealed to the military to return
its loyalty to him.
"I am the commander of the armed forces, elected by
the people, and I ask the armed forces to comply
with the order to open the airport so that there is
no problem in landing and embracing with my people,"
Zelaya said from the plane.

Nations on June 30, two days after he was ousted as
president of Honduras in a military coup. (Mark
Lennihan/Associated Press)
Last Sunday, soldiers removed Zelaya, 56, from his
home at gunpoint and flew him to Costa Rica after a
dispute over presidential term limits.
Honduran Foreign Minister Enrique Ortez said earlier
Sunday, "The landing of the plane which will bring
the ex-president is banned." Zelaya's plane would be
diverted, the interim government said.
Zelaya's promise to return created a tense situation
at Toncontin International Airport, the main airport
serving Tegucigalpa. He left Washington, D.C.,
earlier Sunday on a jet headed for Honduras.
Most commercial flights were cancelled and hundreds
of police and soldiers have stood guard at the
airport for the past two days.
At least one person was killed — shot in the head —
and two were badly wounded on Sunday when thousands
of supporters clashed with troops at the airport, a
medic and emergency services at the scene told
Reuters.
A spokesman said the Red Cross was treating about 30
people for injuries, including a woman who had been
stabbed.
Following the clash, the interim government extended
a sunset-to-sunrise curfew that began three hours
earlier at 7 p.m. local time.
No other Latin American leaders accompanied Zelaya,
contradicting an earlier statement from the exiled
Honduran leader that the presidents of Argentina and
Ecuador and the leader of the OAS would escort him
back to power.
Political entourage
Zelaya flew with close advisers and staff, two
journalists from the Venezuelan television network
Telesur and UN General Assembly President Miguel
D'Escoto Brockmann, a leftist Nicaraguan priest and
former foreign minister who personally condemned
Zelaya's ouster as a coup d'état.
Several other planes carrying Latin American
presidents, OAS Secretary General Jose Miguel
Insulza and journalists left Washington separately,
trailing Zelaya to see what happens in the skies
over Honduras before deciding where to land.
If Zelaya's plane were allowed to land, the others
would land as well, Ecuadorean President Rafael
Correa said. If not, they would land in El Salvador.
As his plane was being diverted to Nicaragua, Zelaya
called on the United Nations, the OAS, the United
States and European countries to "do something with
this repressive regime."
"We should look for an immediate solution," Zelaya
told Telesur.
He then met with Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega
before leaving for consultations in El Salvador.
Zelaya recently lost support from the military, the
Honduran Congress and Supreme Court over a
referendum on constitutional reform.
Opponents feared he would use the vote, scheduled to
begin the same day he was removed, to remain in
power after his term ends on Jan. 27, 2010. The
Honduran constitution limits presidents to a single
four-year term.
The country's new government has vowed to arrest
Zelaya for 18 alleged criminal acts, including
treason and failing to implement more than 80 laws
approved by Congress since taking office in 2006.
On Saturday, the OAS suspended Honduras as a member.
Interim president Roberto Micheletti preemptively
pulled out of the OAS hours earlier rather than
comply with an ultimatum that Zelaya be restored.
But Micheletti said Sunday the interim government
had contacted the OAS to express its willingness to
begin talks.

Tuesday June 30th 2009,
Honduras united to defend its Constitution and
Democracy
written on: Monday, 29 June 2009 22:04
by Nicole Marrder,
Honduras has always been a peaceful country and the
people have sometimes seemed a bit soft. But
Hondurans have proved that they can unite and the
can fight back when their peaceful and free way of
life is threatened.
Former President Manuel Zelaya Rosales was
destitute from his office as president of Honduras
on Sunday, June 28th, when armed forces escorted him
out of his residence and out of the country. That
same day Congress followed the process of a
constitutional substitution of the president, naming
Roberto Micheletti, President of Congress at the
time, as the new constitutional president of
Honduras.
The news took everyone by surprise but for many it
was a time of relief. Ex President Zelaya had been
planning and organizing a supposed National Poll to
simply ask the people if they agreed on a fourth box
during the November elections. However, the poll had
second intentions which would summon a National
Constituent Assembly with the objective of changing
the Constitution and current form of government in
order to stay in power longer than it is allowed by
the current Constitution.
The Supreme Court had already ruled against this act
and had called it illegal. But Zelaya ignored the
ruling and openly said nothing would stop him from
making it happen.
The goal behind Mel’s intentions was to re write the
Constitution of Honduras and establish a new form of
government, just like Venezuelan Chief Hugo Chavez
has done in the south. This would completely change
the way of life that Hondurans have known and love.
Before the arrest of Zelaya, Hondurans had
demonstrated they were not about to let their
democracy be tumbled and taken away. Many peaceful
manifestations took place throughout the country,
especially in Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula,
Honduras’ two main cities.
There were many organizations that promoted the
different manifestations and “Plantones” where
citizens gathered in crowds and spoke against
Zelaya’s intentions and his behavior, and defended
the Constitution, the application of the law, and
the democracy of the country.
All manifestations took place in a peaceful manner,
very well organized and called upon. The peace and
order of the cities was never interrupted and people
felt safe attending the manifestations.
Like never before Hondurans strongly united against
the threat that was put upon the democracy. Fighting
against a possible change in their way of life were
organizations like the catholic church, many
evangelical churches, the human rights commissioner,
the general attorney, supreme electoral tribunal,
national anticorruption commission, judicial power,
colegio de abogados, national association of
industries, civil society, and most political
parties including the Liberal Party, Manuel Zelaya’s
own party.
Zelaya`s behavior during the days before his arrest
was defiant, disrespectful, overpowered and mocking.
Even though a small group of Zelaya’s followers has
gone out to the streets in protest against the
events of Sunday, the polls and the general feeling
of the rest of the people in Honduras is still the
same.
The international community has been strongly
opposing the outcome of the recent events and is
backing up Ex President Zelaya on his fight to
return to power. But Honduras has a new
Constitutional president and the people are behind
him all the way.
The youth of Honduras has been dedicated to speak up
and share information through many online engines.
Everyone is helping out to let the world know that
Hondurans stand strong against anyone who pretends
to take over their democracy and freedom.
On Tuesday June 30th, Hondurans will invade the
streets of Tegucigalpa in a peaceful march of
support as a demonstration to the world of their
support for the new President Micheletti and his
Cabinet, with the hopes that the international
community will understand their position and respect
their choice of holding free elections in November
and bring back peace and tranquility to the country.

Monday June 29, 2009
There is a lot of talk of "Democratic disruption"
with President Manuel Zelaya being exiled over the
weekend by the Military, but the truth is that he
was removed by Congress which represent the people
of Honduras and who where democratically elected.
We do not approve of the fact that the Military was
used in this way but the fact that Congress which
include members of the opposition and members of the
President's own party agreed to remove the President
in order to PROTECT Honduras’ Constitution which the
President wants to change in order to remain in
power for longer than allowable, says a lot about
the situation.
One of the major issues that relates to us is that
President Zelaya is well connected to the President
of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, who believes that private
business is bad and that people with wealth or land
are holding the rest of the people down which might
be true in some cases but not in general and in fact
a lot of people and companies like the ones that we
represent are working and have always been working
to help to empower Hondurans, to receive better
opportunities, and benefit from the work that is
being done by bringing investments from around the
world.
Honduras has been historically peaceful and we are
confident that it will remain this way and that
democracy will continue in Honduras which has
already been iterated by new interim president,
Roberto Micheletti, who has already stated that the
November election will take place as planned and
that the people will get to choose a new leader in a
democratic way.
I have spoken to various people in Honduras this
morning and they talk as if nothing has happened and
everything is business as usual. They have not heard
of any talk of the Honduran people uprising against
what Congress did except for a handful of Zelaya
supporters which is what is being shown on the news
around the world but please do not confuse what is
happening in Honduras with what is happening in
other countries.
There is no doubt that there will be some
controversy and blown up HEADLINES over the next few
weeks or months but Honduras still remains one of
the best places to invest in the Caribbean and
democracy will continue and probably be stronger
come the next election.

President Manuel Zelaya was arrested early on
Sunday, June 28 by a 12-member Honduran military
team. Some 200 soldiers, supported by tanks, arrived
at Mr. Zelaya’s residence at dawn and surrounded the
presidential palace amidst hundreds of protesters.
Police used tear gas to disperse the crowd, and Mr.
Zelaya was transported to an air force base on the
outskirts of Tegucigalpa and flown into exile to San
Jose, Costa Rica.

Home inspections have been completed at Villas
Paraiso Escondido and Villas Boreales and all homes
and infrastructures have not sustained any damage
from the Earthquake so work on all homes have
resumed as of Today.

Thursday May 28, 2009
As you may or may not know, an earthquake struck at
3:24 a.m. local time, with its epicentre about 130
kilometres northeast of La Ceiba, Honduras. The
quake was felt in almost the entire country. Half an
hour later, a 4.8-magnitude aftershock hit about 155
miles north of Tegucigalpa. There were no initial
reports of damage from the aftershock but a bridge
between El Progreso and Tela was damaged as well as
a soccer stadium wall.
Three people were killed and at least 40 injured;
two of the victims -- a 15-year-old boy and a
3-year-old girl -- died after a wall collapsed on
them, according to a Honduran government agency that
responds to natural disasters, which is known by its
Spanish acronym, COPECO. A man whose age was unknown
also died of a heart attack, the agency said. The
teenage boy's brother suffered minor injuries, said
Dilcia Fernandez, mayor of La Lima, where the boy
died. La Lima is about 120 miles north of the
capital, Tegucigalpa.
A spokesman for Honduras' firefighters said wooden
homes collapsed in Puerto Cortes, about 200
kilometres north of the capital, Tegucigalpa. The
National Weather Service placed the Central American
country; Belize and Guatemala under a tsunami watch
but later lifted it.
Flor Espedal says that everyone in Villas Boreales,
Villas Paraiso Escondido, and the communities in the
immediate area are all o.k.; just a little shaken
up. Paradise Properties’ Engineer and supervisors
are on site right now, inspecting the infrastructure
of Villas Paraiso Escondido and Constructora is
inspecting all the homes which appear to have no
damage thus far, but we’ll know more in the next
couple of days.
